Zoonotic disease is a general term for infectious diseases that infect humans and animals. In the Standards for the Care and Storage of Experimental Animals and Alleviation of Pain, the 3rd Common Standard states, "Efforts should be made to acquire sufficient knowledge and collect information on common infectious diseases between humans and animals." Zoonotic diseases from laboratory animals are now almost unrecognizable. However, we must learn from past cases and always prepare for zoonotic diseases that may occur in the future.
